This is a joint offering from the FSARN Chapter and the SETX Chapter of ARN. This CE will be provided by FSARN and give an overview to rehabilitation nurses and case managers about brain injury rehab and the role of the nurse liaison and case manager in managing expectations and the role of humor.
1 Free Nursing CE Virtual Series
Learner Objectives:
1. Identify at least 3 common "institutional absurdities" of systemic challenges within neurorehabilitation, as highlighted by the Last Resort Rehab Hospital framework, that directly impact their daily nursing practice.
2. Describe how the "Behind the Curtain" realities of catastrophic care as satirically portrayed by LRRH, can influence patient and family expectations and identify at least 2 communication strategies to address these discrepancies in preadmission or ongoing family meetings.
3. Discuss at least one strategy for fostering resilience or employing humor as a coping mechanism in response to the systemic frustrations and ethical dilemmas frequently encountered in neurorehabilitation nursing, drawing inspiration from the "authentically cynical yet relatable" tone of LRRH.
